WASUDEV Proudly Celebrates International Women’s Day 2026
Women in Agriculture for Sustainable Development (WASUDEV) proudly joined women across Liberia and around the world in celebrating International Women’s Day 2026, recognizing the achievements, resilience, and contributions of women in every sector of society.
Every year, March 8 is observed globally as International Women’s Day—a time to honor progress made toward gender equality while renewing the commitment to advancing women’s rights and opportunities. This year, WASUDEV participated in an early commemoration of the day, standing in solidarity with women nationwide.
Celebrating Under Meaningful Themes
This year’s celebration was held under the Global Theme: “Give to Gain” and Liberia’s National Theme: “Give to Gain: Support Women for National Development.”
These themes strongly reflect the reality and importance of women farmers and women in agribusiness, whose daily efforts continue to strengthen food systems, create livelihoods, and contribute significantly to national growth.
Supporting women is not charity—it is smart development policy. When women are empowered, entire communities benefit.

Women at the Heart of Agriculture
Across Liberia and around the world, women remain central to agriculture. They are:
- Producing food for households and markets
- Managing farms and agricultural enterprises
- Running agribusinesses
- Preserving local food systems
- Supporting family nutrition and wellbeing
- Contributing to rural economies
Despite their immense contributions, many women in agriculture still face challenges such as limited access to land, finance, training, technology, and market opportunities.
Why Investing in Women Matters
When women farmers receive the support they need, the benefits extend far beyond individuals.
Investing in women leads to:
- Increased agricultural productivity
- Improved household food security
- Stronger rural economies
- Better nutrition outcomes
- Job creation and entrepreneurship growth
- More resilient communities
Empowering women in agriculture is not only a matter of equality—it is a pathway to sustainable livelihoods and long-term national prosperity.

WASUDEV’s Commitment
As an organization dedicated to women in agriculture and sustainable development, WASUDEV remains committed to championing programs and partnerships that uplift women farmers and agripreneurs across Liberia.
Through advocacy, training, community engagement, and inclusive development initiatives, WASUDEV continues to promote a future where women can fully participate and lead in agricultural transformation.
