WASUDEV Expands Agri-Sisters Fund Following MoMo Heroes of Change Recognition

  • April 18, 2026

Women in Agriculture for Sustainable Development (WASUDEV) is proud to share another important milestone in its journey of empowering women farmers and strengthening rural livelihoods across Liberia.

In late 2025, our Executive Director emerged as the 3rd Place Winner of the MoMo Heroes of Change Award, organized by Lonestar Cell MTN. This prestigious recognition celebrated impactful community leadership and highlighted the meaningful work being carried out through WASUDEV.

Recognition That Created Greater Impact

The award not only brought increased visibility to our organization, but it also came with a financial award of LRD 500,000, which directly strengthened our programs and outreach efforts.

Support of this nature demonstrates how recognition and investment in grassroots leadership can create real change in communities where it is needed most.

Expanding the Agri-Sisters Fund

Today, WASUDEV is pleased to announce that through this support, we have successfully expanded the Agri-Sisters Fund to three additional women’s groups, benefiting 60 women smallholder farmers.

This expansion marks a significant step in increasing opportunities for women engaged in agriculture and income-generating activities.

What is the Agri-Sisters Fund?

The Agri-Sisters Fund is a revolving financial support initiative designed to help women farmers access resources needed to improve their livelihoods.

Through the fund, women are able to invest in:

  • Farming activities
  • Gardening and vegetable production
  • Small-scale agribusiness ventures
  • Other income-generating activities
  • Productivity-enhancing tools and inputs

The revolving nature of the fund ensures that support can continue reaching more women over time, creating long-term community impact.

Why Supporting Women Farmers Matters

Women farmers play a critical role in food production, household wellbeing, and local economic development. Yet many continue to face barriers in accessing finance and productive resources.

By empowering women farmers, communities benefit through:

  • Stronger household incomes
  • Increased food security
  • Better nutrition outcomes
  • More resilient rural economies
  • Greater economic independence for women

When women succeed, families and communities grow stronger.

Gratitude for the Opportunity

WASUDEV remains deeply grateful for the recognition received through the MoMo Heroes of Change Award and for the opportunity it created to scale impact where it matters most.

We extend sincere appreciation to Lonestar Cell MTN for celebrating community changemakers and supporting initiatives that transform lives.
