WASUDEV Completes 3 Days Advocacy Training for Land Rights in Agriculture

  • March 1, 2025

Women in Agriculture for Sustainable Development (WASUDEV) proudly completed a three-day advocacy training provided by Talking Drum Studio, under the Land Management Activity supported by USAID/Liberia. This training was an invaluable opportunity to deepen our understanding of land rights, advocacy strategies, and how to effectively engage in policy dialogue to support women’s access to land in Liberia.

Limited access to land remains one of the most pressing challenges faced by women in agriculture. Despite their crucial role in farming, many women struggle to secure land rights, which directly impacts their ability to grow crops, sustain their livelihoods, and contribute to food security. This constraint often leads to economic and social exclusion, hindering women’s potential and limiting their contributions to sustainable development.

The advocacy training provided by Talking Drum Studio equipped our team with vital tools to address these challenges. Over the course of three days, we learned how to craft impactful messages, engage stakeholders, and lobby for policies that will improve women’s access to land. The training also helped us understand the broader landscape of land management policies and the importance of building strong, unified advocacy efforts. With this knowledge, we are now better prepared to push for systemic change in land rights and create a more equitable agricultural landscape for women.

The insights gained from this training will be put into action as we expand our advocacy efforts. We are committed to continuing the fight for women’s land rights, advocating for policies that ensure women have the land access they need to thrive in agriculture. We are determined to raise awareness, build coalitions, and engage with policymakers to create an enabling environment where women can own, manage, and benefit from the land they cultivate.

As we move forward, we are grateful for the support of USAID/Liberia and Talking Drum Studio, whose contributions have helped us gain the knowledge and confidence needed to advocate for change. This training is a step toward creating lasting change, but our work is far from over. With our new skills and determination, we are ready to make a powerful impact in the fight for women’s land rights.

Thank you to everyone who made this training possible and to all those who continue to stand with us in advocating for the rights of women in agriculture. Together, we can create a future where women have equal access to land, and their contributions to agriculture and sustainable development are recognized and supported. Keep following us for updates on our ongoing advocacy efforts as we continue this important work!
