WASUDEV Donates Gari Processing Machine to Women Farmers in Gayeh, Bong County
At Women in Agriculture for Sustainable Development (WASUDEV), we believe that true empowerment starts with practical tools, knowledge, and local partnerships. That’s why we were honored, just a few weeks ago, to present a gari processing machine and essential agricultural tools to the hardworking and resilient women farmers of Gayeh, Bong County.
Gayeh is a vibrant cassava-producing community where women form the backbone of agricultural activity. Despite facing limited resources and challenging conditions, these women have remained committed to cultivating their land, feeding their families, and contributing to the local economy. Their resilience, determination, and solidarity continue to inspire us.

Advancing Food Processing and Local Livelihoods
The donation, made possible with support from our valued partner Kvinna till Kvinna, marks a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to enhance food production and open up economic opportunities for women in rural Liberia.
The gari processing machine will:
- Reduce the physical labor and time required to process cassava manually.
- Increase production efficiency, allowing women to process larger quantities of gari for both household consumption and market sale.
- Boost incomes by enabling value addition and creating market-ready products.
- Encourage cooperative ownership and collective enterprise among women farmers.

Celebrating Partnership and Community
The handover ceremony was a meaningful moment, attended by local leaders, community members, and representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture Liberia (MOA Liberia). We extend our sincere thanks to the Ministry for honoring the occasion through the presence of the County Agriculture Coordinator, whose participation highlighted the importance of government-community collaboration in rural development.
We also deeply appreciate the dedication of the local leaders, who are working closely with the women to ensure that the machine is maintained, shared equitably, and serves the broader interests of the entire Gayeh community.
